For this project, I went personal! I created an 8×10 inch high-resolution mood board for print. And I did print it. Then before posting here, I also created an optimized version for web. With hot days and swim season just around the corner, I have been thinking about the backyard pool and my mood board is full of inspiration for freshening it up.
I love the amazing aqua blue of the water against the terra cotta border, so I started there by gathering hex codes for those colors. I also added a citron green that reminded me of the lighter parts of the palms. These 3 colors embody summertime in Houston for me.
The garage wall (shown in the top right corner) needs to be updated. I think we’ve narrowed it down to a cedar wood wall with plants hanging on it, so I found images for the mood board to give us inspiration, like small plants in traditional terra cotta planters and a plank wall. Next up was the other details — aqua mini-tile, terra cotta-colored roses, and Turkish banana stripe towels. Now I can hardly wait to create this!
